Today was a battle of two dominant pitchers between the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays. Jon Lester faced Roy Halladay in this afternoon's most exciting pitching match up. Unfortunately for the Sox, Halladay ended as the victor, leading his Jays to a 3-1 victory by throwing a complete game. Jon Lester went seven innings and gave up only three runs. Unfortunately, he also gave up four walks (a season high). He did not pitch badly, he just had some control issues. When pitching against the likes of Roy Halladay, each mistake is amplified, clearly shown today. The only bright spots for Boston were 2-4 nights from both Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia. This was a tough loss for the Sox, as it ended their road series winning streak. Return to Red Sox News |
